My grandmother, Estel Ester Snyder, died on Friday morning around 2am (Israel time) on July 6, 2007, the 20th of Tamuz, 5767 at age 101. She died after falling and fracturing her skull, which caused internal bleeding into the brain. She was born in 1906 in Romania, emigrated to the US as a teenager, and retired to Israel in 1973. I went to Israel to attend the funeral, which was held on the following Friday. She was buried in a traditional Jewish ceremony next to my grandfather; they had been married for 50 years until he died in 1980. May their memory be bound in the chain of life.

This picture is from the last time I saw her in her life, in December 2005.
This gallery has some pictures from my trip. There are pictures from Newark airport in NY, Qiryat Tivon, where my grandmother lived, and Tzfat, where I visited a friend. I'm proudest of my airport shots, just because I was able to find interesting things to shoot. Actually, airports are quite interesting, there are so many people from all over the world in all sorts of states of mind. Problem is most people are either tired, annoyed, rushed, or bored. The architecture usually sucks and it can be hard to find good light, plus you don't want to annoy security. Kids make great subjects, especially since parents are trying really hard to keep them happy.
