Getting from one place to another. Plenty of flying. Eventually you start to memorize airport codes. There are aggregators, like orbitz, which I use for most of my US travel. But orbitz has its limitations, as well as a poor cancellation policy for add-ons like hotels (no partial refunds past 48 hours or some such nonsense). There are also super aggregators like mobissimo. For instance, I need to fly from San Francisco (sfo) to Tokyo (nrt), so I run a query on mobissimo and find fares on United, where i have lots of frequent flyer miles for ~$600 one-way. There is also Farecast, which is supposed to help with "buy now or wait" questions, but it relies on the usual sites, like orbitz, and so misses the lowest fares.
